Coming to India

Nobody comes to India
to relax.

The noise, the heat, the impossible traffic, a stranger's unexpected kindness — none of it softens. It gets under your skin, and you leave a little different from how you arrived.

India is not a place you tick off. It is layered, contradictory and entirely unconcerned with your comfort zone — and that is the point. Whether it is your first trip here or your fifth, the country never gets easier to explain. It only gets more worth it.

The honest part

Four things people ask us before they come

Nobody says these out loud on a booking form. They are the real reasons people hesitate, so here they are answered plainly.

Getting ill

The fear is real and mostly avoidable. Every stay, every driver and every place you eat on your route has been used and re-used by us for years. If something still goes wrong, we arrange a doctor within the hour — a real appointment, not advice by message.

Travelling alone, especially as a woman

You have read the stories. A private guide and driver who stay with you changes the arithmetic entirely. Not a coach of strangers — one team who know exactly where you are, every day of the trip.

Being hassled or overcharged

The touts, the doubled prices, the friend who has a shop. A guide absorbs all of it before it reaches you. You are not negotiating in a market you do not understand; somebody who has done this for decades is standing beside you.

The chaos

The traffic, the crowds, the sheer volume of everything. It does not get quieter — you simply stop having to manage it. A driver who knows the shortcuts turns it into something you watch rather than something you survive.

27 years of getting this right, for more than 15,000 travellers before you.

From landing to leaving

One group, the whole time you are here

The moment you land we open a group — you, your coordinator, your guide, and our operations team, in one thread until you go home. It answers the fear underneath all the others: being somewhere unfamiliar with nobody to call.

You

Any chance we could see a doctor? Not feeling great.

Built around your leave, not our map

How long you have decides what we build

10 days

One region, properly

Enough to go deep into a single part of the country without rushing. The Golden Triangle done at a human pace, or Rajasthan without the highlight reel.

2 weeks

Two rhythms

Room to pair forts and desert with backwaters and tea hills, and still have days that are not transfer days.

3 weeks

The one people mean

North to south, temple to coastline, with real time to sit still in between. This is the trip people are describing when they say India changed them.

Honestly

When to come

Oct – Mar

The easy season

Clear skies, cool mornings, everything at its most photogenic. It is also when everybody else comes, and prices know it.

Apr – Jun

Genuinely hot

Not "warm". Hot, especially across the plains and Rajasthan. The hills earn their reputation in these months, and everywhere else empties out.

Jul – Sep

The one to reconsider

Not the season most people picture, and we think they are wrong. Kerala turns the green you have seen in photographs, the waterfalls come alive across the Western Ghats, and rates fall. Expect rain most afternoons and plan around it, not against it.

Honestly

Things we will talk you out of

We would rather lose the booking than sell you a trip we know will disappoint you.

The Golden Triangle in three days

Delhi, Agra and Jaipur are a comfortable week and a punishing long weekend. Every move costs you half a day, and three moves in three days means you have seen roads.

North and south in ten days

India is the size of a continent and behaves like one. Two regions properly beats five glimpsed from a car window, and you will not regret the one you left for next time.

Rajasthan in May

It reaches temperatures that stop being an inconvenience and start being a health question. If May is when you can travel, let us send you to the hills instead.

The overnight train, just because

Sometimes it is the best way to travel and we will book it gladly. Sometimes it is fourteen hours you could have spent somewhere. We will tell you which one you are choosing.

Practicalities

The visa, and everything else

Most nationalities can apply for an e-Visa online, and it is usually quick. We will tell you exactly what you need before you start, and check it before you file.

Before you flyYour visa, checked. We tell you what to prepare and look over it before it goes in, so a small mistake does not become a refusal.
On arrivalA local SIM and connectivity, sorted. You should not land in an unfamiliar country and be unable to reach anybody, least of all us.
Before you flyCurrency guidance, and what to actually carry. Where cards work, where they do not, and roughly what a day costs.
ThroughoutWhat to pack, honestly. Written for the season and the region you are travelling in, not a list that covers everywhere.
Travellers

What people said afterwards

This section is intentionally empty. We are collecting these properly, from travellers who have just gone home, with their permission. We would rather leave it blank than write it ourselves.
